Dawn of War 2
Dawn of War 2 is the sequel to the widely popular Dawn of War. Instead of the objective to be base destruction, there are actual victory points in the game, meaning it will be much more tactical.
It is squad based, however on a much smaller scale.
The game will be different then DoW by:
- Less focus on base-building. This translates into a single structure belonging to you and producing units out of it.
- Consequences regarding mission choices. For example there may be multiple distress calls to answer, each available for a limited duration. During a mission you may have to choose between saving civilians or obtaining War Gear
- Control of only five or six squads - unclear if these numbers apply to all races or just Space Marines
- Redesigned War Gear - War Gear can be obtained by accomplishing objectives during missions and is randomly dropped sometimes by enemies
- Better cover bonuses, and a new emphasis on methods of dealing with units in cover (e.g. destroying cover with grenades or ignoring cover bonuses with flamers)
- Improved squad AI - for example, squads under fire will seek out cover
- More realistically sized vehicles (i.e. larger than before)
- Squads will acquire experience and become stronger as the game is played, from a new recruit to a hardened veteran

Review
Dawn of War 2 is a much different game from its predecessor. There is no base building for one, which drastically changes the gameplay. Additionally, is is much more focused on smaller combat situations. This means instead of having squads of 10 Marines like you did back in the original, you will have squads of 3 Marines. This will encourage more intelligent use of cover to keep your units alive. The game also focuses more on a team-based aspect (during 2v2 or 3v3 games), and as such, communication is a must. If you are on a team with no communication going around, then you will likely lose, at least in competitive matches. The gameplay is very fluid, and requires good micromanagement and planning ahead to emerge the victor. If you do not think ahead of the game, you will likely fall behind in the game, and lose. The Graphics are gorgeous, being based off of the Company of Heroes engine. You can see above how detailed the graphics are, and how brutal the combat is. Relic has streamlined to be less demanding on a system. As such, you will not be required to have a $4000.00 computer to run it. You will still need a good system to play it, though. The requirements are as follows: Minimum Requirements Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1P4 3.2 GHz (single core) or any Dual Core processor1 GB RAM (XP), 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)A 128MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT / ATI X1600, or equivalent5.5 GB of Hard Drive space Recommended Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1AMD Athlon 64×2 4400+ or any Intel Core 2 Duo2 GB RAM (XP and Vista)A 256MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900, or equivalent5.5 GB of Hard Drive space Tactics As far as tactics go, I'm sure most of you have heard of
