Warhammer Vampire Counts

Warhammer Vampire Counts are a force of the Undead, playable in the wargame Warhammer Fantasy Battle. They are influenced by stories of vampires from modern popular culture. The Vampire Counts generally hail from the area of Sylvania, though their presence is felt across the entire Old World and beyond. The Vampires are the most powerful Undead race, created by unholy rituals many thousands of years ago. Though physically strong, fast and tough, these qualities are not the ones that make Vampires such a threat. The qualities that make the Vampires so deadly is their ambition and will to reach great power. A driving force that every other Undead creature lacks. Enough of the history lesson now! Warhammer Vampire Counts are unnaturally tough, and as such, are more elite then other choices. As such… They typically won’t form the core of your army. You usually stick with Skeletons, zombies, etc.
As I do not play Warhammer Vampire Counts yet, I can not give you accurate information on tactics… but I CAN leech some information off of other sites. To make your life easier... Most Vampire characters are probably the most versatile characters in Warhammer and can be easily focused for a number of different tasks, to suit your taste. The Vampire and Vampire Lord are both wizards as well as good fighters as standard, so their abilities can be moved toward either direction, or kept as a balanced mix. Vampires also have access to lot’s of special and unique magic items, and Vampiric powers. It’s this that can make your Vampire Character so powerful and versatile on the field. There is only one problem though: with so many options, they can be HUGELY expensive. Do not invest an extreme amount of points in them.
Vampires are extremely powerful in close combat. They have a pretty impressive profile and with the help of magic items and Vampiric Powers, you can turn your Vampires into deadly combat monsters. The only real limit is how much you want to spend on them.
The thing with Vampires is that they must be utilized as a ‘whole’. This means the have to be used together to make up for their weaknesses and differences. If you can do this very well, you are all but unstoppable. With a magic-heavy army, most people play quite defensively, keeping the Vampires in the centre of the army where they are protected, while using magic to rain some death on your opponents, and provide support to your own units. In the end, it all comes down to your preferences. Either you enjoy magic-heavy armies, or really good close combat units. Both can be utilized in a Vampire Counts army fairly well. After reading that, I am tempted to do a Vampire army myself now!Yeah, yeah. I am tempted to do every army. :)
