Warhammer 40k Tactics
In the Warhammer 40k Universe, warhammer 40k tactics are very important! On this page, I loaded up as Warhammer 40k resources that I could think of, either from personal experience or researched, and made them ready and available, at your fingertips! Each race have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. Each army must utilize the most effective Warhammer 40k Tactics available to them, if they want to be successful.
Space Marines:
Space Marines are pretty simple to play, and, considering warhammer 40k tactics, are the most user friendly army. They are limited in numbers, however, and must be used carefully to avoid casualties that may hinder your army. There are a few basic Marine styles: Shooty, Combaty, and Balanced. Shooty is self explanatory: Just take as many shooting units as possible, shoot as much as you can, and when you get close to them, run up and rapid fire. This is totally avoiding some of their advantages, such as great armor save that can be used in close combat.
Combaty is also self explanatory, and I find the most effective Marine army. Just swap the bolters on the Tactical Squads with Combat Weapons, and gear everything to close combat. Have a devastator squad or tank to provide fire support and heavy-hitting power, and maybe a land raider to transport your prized Terminator Assault Squad and Chaplain. This by far is one of the best ways to play marines, because once you get into combat, it will be extremely hard to take you down because of your lovely 3+ save. Balanced: This is my second favourite list, you take an even amount of combat and shooting power, and take advantage of both. You shoot your shooters at what is good in combat, and assault shooting units, maximizing your killing potential and minimizing your opponents. This types of list fare much better in tournaments then “Themed” lists.

Chaos Space Marines: Essentially Space Marines, so I will not go over them in much detail. Chaos has the added advantage of Daemons and extremely powerful combat units. Chaos Specializes on combat, because of their extremely powerful Berserkers and Daemons. However their shooting is nothing to be ashamed of also, the Obliterators have access to such powerful guns and are so versatile that almost every Chaos player should consider taking three of them.
Eldar: Eldar are perhaps one of the hardest races to play as. They usually have armies that specialize in one area, and suck in other areas. For example, they may have an anti-Marine list, consisting of many high powered shots which reduce marines into ash. However if playing Tyranids or Orks, then this advantage will be wasted because they both have so many models that for every model that drops dead, twenty fill its place. They got some really tough things, such as Wraithlords, Wraithguard, and Avatars, which can deliver a real big punch without fear of much retaliation. Just don’t march them up to a Brood of Genestealers and expect them to survive though! Eldar are also one of the most menuverable armies around, with skimmers and Grav Tanks dominating the battlefield. They are extremely fast and pack a really heavy punch. It is best to use this advantage, because other races will have a really hard time to take down those skimmers. I can’t tell you how many games I nearly lost because of those wretched skimmer...
Continued on page two of the tactics section.
Well as you can see, each army has totally different playing styles. However keep in mind that this page, warhammer 40k tactics is just a basic guide to get you started, this is not a “Be all end all” rule you must always follow. If it works for you, it works for you, and don’t let me ruin your day! Warhammer is all about experimenting with army lists and tactics, so while you may be losing all your models today, some day you will start to win and then you can’t be defeated!
