Warhammer 40k Tactics

In the Warhammer 40k Universe, warhammer 40k tactics are very important! On this page, I loaded up as Warhammer 40k resources that I could think of, either from personal experience or researched, and made them ready and available, at your fingertips!

Each race have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. Each army must utilize the most effective Warhammer 40k Tactics available to them, if they want to be successful.

Orks:

As I don’t usually face Orks, or play them for that matter, I cannot give you much information about them. However they are fairly straight forward. Either a “boyz” horde, a “Speed Freak” army, or a balanced list of both. A horde is just trying to keep models cheap, taking as many as possible, trying to outnumber the enemy at least three to one. The point of this list is trying to field so many models, that the enemy can’t kill all of them.

A Speed Freak army is taking as many bikes and fast vehicles as possible (Trucks) and out maneuvering the opponent, giving them hell before you eventually die out, only to face the rest of your boyz in combat. Brutal. Balanced... Do I really have to explain this?

There are also some really cool lists, such as two Warbosses, fifty Nobz all in trucks. The Warbosses allow you to take two Nobz units as troop choices, fulfilling the two troops requirement. The basic strategy is to move as fast as possible in trucks in the first turn or two, and then getting close to the enemy, calling the Waaah! and getting into combat with all of those Nobz. That list would be really fun to play!

Necrons: Necrons are fairly simple to play. Your ultimate goal is to field as many models with the “Necron” special rule, to eliminate the possibility of phasing out (All Necron players worst nightmare). Necrons have many awesome units that attract the eye, such as the C’tan and the Monolith. However it is best to leave these units alone until you get to at least 1750 points. I know many of you will go ahead and take a monolith anyways because they are so awesome, but trust me. You don’t really need it until higher point games, and they tend to attract all the Anti-Tank weaponry in the enemies army. (Strange because it is the only vehicle... ;)

Some really hard lists to defeat is Warrior lists, loaded to the brim with warriors and some Tomb Spyders for heavy hitting. Just a rule of thumb: Tomb Spyders are INCREDIBLE!!!! They are really cheap, are monstrous creatures (say good by to that Land Raider), can spawn scarabs, and are heavy support. This is good because Necrons rarely use heavy support slots. I suggest take at least two Tomb Spyders, in separate squads.

Continued on page three of the tactics section.

Well as you can see, each army has totally different playing styles. However keep in mind this is just a basic guide to get you started, this is not a “Be all end all” rule you must always follow. If it works for you, it works for you, and don’t let me ruin your day! Warhammer is all about experimenting with army lists and tactics, so while you may be losing all your models today, some day you will start to win and then you can’t be defeated!
